Novalis

Novalis, bürgerlich Georg Philipp Friedrich von Hardenberg, war ein deutscher Dichter, Philosoph und Bergbaubeamter der Frühromantik in Mitteldeutschland. Er prägte mit den „Hymnen an die Nacht“ und der „Blauen Blume“ zentrale Motive der Romantik, während seine Schrift „Die Christenheit oder Europa“ wegen der Verklärung des katholischen Mittelalters auf Widerspruch stieß. Bibellesern ist er vor allem durch seine in Gesangbücher aufgenommenen „Geistlichen Lieder“ vertraut, die von persönlicher Christusfrömmigkeit und Trost im Leid zeugen.
