Angelus Silesius

Angelus Silesius, bürgerlich Johannes Scheffler, war ein schlesischer Arzt, Barockdichter und katholischer Priester des 17. Jahrhunderts, der hauptsächlich in Breslau wirkte. Bekannt ist er für sein Werk „Der Cherubinische Wandersmann“ mit seinen mystischen Sinnsprüchen zur Gottesvereinigung, während er zeitgleich als scharfer Polemiker der Gegenreformation auftrat. Heutigen Bibellesern begegnet er in Kirchenliedern und aphoristischen Versen, die zum Nachdenken über die Hingabe an Gott jenseits rein rationaler Zugänge anregen.
