Der britische Heeresoffizier und Bibellehrer Walter Ian Thomas (1914–2007) gründete 1946 im englischen Capernwray die weltweite Missions- und Freizeitzentrenbewegung der Fackelträger. Seine von der Keswick-Bewegung geprägte Verkündigung stellte das Prinzip des „innewohnenden Lebens Christi“ gegen jede Form religiöser Selbstanstrengung. Heutigen Bibellesern vermittelt er Impulse zur Befreiung von geistlichem Leistungsdruck, wobei seine Heiligungsauffassung im reformierten Raum auch kritisch diskutiert wird.
