Robert Leighton (1611–1684) war ein schottischer Theologe, Universitätsprediger und späterer Erzbischof von Glasgow. Im konfessionell zerrissenen Schottland des 17. Jahrhunderts bemühte er sich um eine Vermittlung zwischen Presbyterianern und Anglikanern, wobei seine Annahme des Bischofsamts von strengen Covenanters als Verrat verurteilt wurde. Heutigen Bibellesern ist er vor allem durch seinen praxisorientierten Kommentar zum ersten Petrusbrief und seine Schriften über persönliche Heiligung und Demut bekannt.
