Dorothee Sölle (1929–2003) war eine deutsche evangelische Theologin und Publizistin, die unter anderem als Professorin in New York und später in Hamburg wirkte. Sie verband christliche Mystik mit feministischer Befreiungstheologie und politischem Engagement, lehnte traditionelle Allmachtsvorstellungen Gottes ab und stieß damit in Kirche und Wissenschaft auf anhaltenden Widerspruch. Für Bibelleser bietet ihr Werk Impulse für eine existenziell-politische Schriftauslegung, fordert jedoch durch ihren Bruch mit klassischen Dogmen zur Auseinandersetzung heraus.
