Michael von Faulhaber (1869–1952) war ein deutscher katholischer Theologe, Alttestamentler und von 1917 bis zu seinem Tod Erzbischof von München und Freising sowie Kardinal. Bekannt wurde er durch seine Adventspredigten von 1933 zur Verteidigung des Alten Testaments gegen die NS-Ideologie und seinen Entwurf zur Enzyklika „Mit brennender Sorge“, wobei seine Haltung zur Demokratie, seine Kooperation mit dem NS-Staat und das Ausbleiben eines entschiedenen Protests gegen die Judenverfolgung historisch umstritten sind.
