Ludwig Helmbold (1532–1598) war ein deutscher lutherischer Theologe, Pädagoge und Dichter, der an der Universität Erfurt lehrte und später als Superintendent in Mühlhausen wirkte. Bekanntheit erlangte der kaiserlich gekrönte Dichter vor allem durch seine geistlichen Lieder, darunter bis heute gesungene Werke wie „Von Gott will ich nicht lassen“ und „Nun lasst uns Gott dem Herren“.
