François Fénelon (1651–1715) war ein französischer römisch-katholischer Theologe, Erzieher am Königshof und ab 1695 Erzbischof von Cambrai. Er vertrat eine Mystik der uneigennützigen Gottesliebe und geriet im Quietismus-Streit um kontemplative Gebetsformen in Konflikte, die 1699 zur päpstlichen Verurteilung von 23 seiner Thesen führten.
