Sir Thomas Browne war ein englischer Arzt und Schriftsteller des 17. Jahrhunderts, der vor allem in Norwich praktizierte und wirkte. Er wurde durch Werke wie „Religio Medici“ bekannt, in denen er naturwissenschaftliche Neugier mit christlicher Frömmigkeit verband, geriet jedoch auch durch sein Sachverständigengutachten in einem Hexenprozess 1662 in historische Kritik.
