Jan Hus

Johann Hus war ein böhmischer Theologe, Priester und Universitätslehrer, der um die Wende zum 15. Jahrhundert in Prag wirkte. Er kritisierte kirchliche Missstände wie den Ablasshandel, stellte die Heilige Schrift über hierarchische Autoritäten und wurde 1415 nach seiner Weigerung zu widerrufen auf dem Konzil von Konstanz als Ketzer verbrannt. Für heutige Bibelleser steht er als Vorläufer der Reformation für die Bindung des Gewissens an biblische Maßstäbe gegenüber institutionellem Druck.
