Gorch Fock

Gorch Fock, bürgerlich Johann Wilhelm Kinau, war ein deutscher Schriftsteller und Dichter aus Hamburg-Finkenwerder, der 1916 im Ersten Weltkrieg fiel. Bekannt wurde er durch Seefahrtsliteratur wie den Roman „Seefahrt ist not!“, in der sich ein lutherisch geprägtes Gottvertrauen mit heroischer Schicksalsergebenheit verband, weshalb sein Werk später von Nationalisten und Militaristen vereinnahmt wurde. Für Bibelleser heute sind vor allem seine prägnanten Sinnsprüche über Lebensmut, Gelassenheit und das Vertrauen auf Gottes Führung von Bedeutung.
