Johann Heinrich Pestalozzi (1746–1827) war ein Schweizer Pädagoge, Sozialreformer und Schriftsteller, der an Wirkungsorten wie Zürich, Birr, Stans, Burgdorf und Yverdon arbeitete. Geprägt von der reformierten Tradition und der Aufklärung, begründete er das Konzept der ganzheitlichen Bildung mit „Kopf, Herz und Hand“ sowie das Recht auf Bildung für alle Kinder, scheiterte jedoch wiederholt an der wirtschaftlichen und organisatorischen Leitung seiner Anstalten.
